The Wilhelmina Johnson Resource Center (WJRC) is located at 321 NW 10th St. Gainesville, Florida.

The Center has been used for many purposes since it was built in the early 1900’s. People from the community remember it as a fire station, a recreation center and a community resource center.

Cultural Arts Coalition has been working out of the WJRC since 1986. In 2000, CAC contracted with the City of Gainesville as manager of the facility.

While CAC encourages groups with arts-oriented programming to use the facilities, community organizations also hold regular meetings here. Special programs can be hosted at the facilities ranging from baby showers, to birthday parties to dinners to wakes.

Lavern Porter Dancers have been rehearsing at WJRC since the 1980s. This historic dance company has performed throughout the state of Florida at major festivals and art shows. The Company has traditionally held classes Mondays and Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm. The Company’s Director is Lavern Porter who has been recognized throughout the community for her tireless work with this company.

Swing in Motion holds dance classes Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Meeting and event rooms available for use. Call WJRC office between 1:00pm and 6:00pm Monday – Friday at 352-372-0216 to schedule or for more information.
