Please Consider a Donation to the Environmental Ambassadors Program
In 1990 the City of Gainesville Recycling Program contracted with CAC to create and produce a video to promote recycling. The video would be used to increase participation of residents in East Gainesville in recycling.
CAC Partnered with TV 20, hired youth between the ages of 8 and 20 and produced a musical video. The video was used as an educational tool in not only Gainesville but 23 other states. The video also won 2nd place in Florida’s ADDY Awards.
The EA has reached hundreds of youth over the years. The program has also expanded to include education around protection and conservation of air, water, energy and land. It also focuses on Education around safe and healthy food. Students learn the very basics of what is happening to the Environment as it relates to climate change.
EA Summer program is 5 weeks and along with learning to be stewards of our Natural Resources, students learn basic job skills i.e. coming to work on time, dressing appropriately, following directions and working as a team.
We are deeply grateful for the 2023 grant from Children’s Trust of Alachua County which has allowed us to continue offering this exceptional program.
